Web Accessibility Compliance

Websites are considered places of public accommodation, and must be conformant with web accessibility standards. Falling short can leave businesses open to potential lawsuits, lost engagement and sales. WTG’s Web Accessibility evaluation show where your web pages stand with regard to WCAG 2.2, the internationally recognized set of guidelines for digital accessibility.

Why should your site be evaluated by WTG?

No Widgets or Overlays

Widgets and overlays do not solve accessibility issues, and are increasingly the subject of lawsuits. WTG’s assessments help you fix issues at the code level, which is a must.

Prevent Lawsuits

Standard fines for non-compliance amount to $55,000 for a first violation and $110,000 for each subsequent violation. Any online business can find themselves at risk of costly litigation.

Frequently Asked Questions

What are some examples of web accessibility issues?

There are different levels of compliance, indicated by the WCAG as Level A, AA and AAA, and the issues or defects can range from simple things like having text alternatives for images, color contrasts that work for visually impaired users, moving images or sections that can not be paused or deactivated, to more complex issues like having content that can be properly interpreted using assistive technologies, and much more.

How long does it take to get a report?

Most reports are completed and issued digitally within 3-5 days of submitting assessment requests. It takes time for our experts to review web pages visually, structurally, at the code level, and using assistive technologies like screen readers and keyboards.

Will I understand the assessment?

We offer access and support from our trained experts who can explain report findings to you and help you pass along or explain information to your web teams or developers, if applicable.

Can’t I just use an accessibility widget or overlay?

Widgets and overlays are seen as a quick fix by most people, but in the accessibility community they are not highly regarded, as they don’t actually fix issues that need to be fixed at code level. More and more, widgets and overlays are becoming the hallmark of key law suits in the accessibility realm.

Will my website have to be rebuilt?

Not necessarily. The adjustments required to bring a site up to accessibility standards can range greatly from simply changing fonts, colors, tags and alternative descriptions to those that require more intricate coding or re-structuring.

What if I don’t have a web designer or development team to implement the recommended changes?

Some fixes can be simple and may not require a designer or development team; however, if you decide to hire one you can easily pass along our assessment details to them - making their work easier! - or we may be able to recommend one who is a great fit for your company!
